Introduction of HDPE (High Density Polyethylene)
HDPE” stands for “high-density polyethylene” or PEHD, polyethylene high-density. HDPE is polyethylene thermoplastic that is made by using petroleum.
It is known as HDPE plastic is a denser version of polyethylene typically used to make water and drain pipes because of its rigidness and crystalline structure.
It is the most widely used of the three polyethylene resins, with a density ranging from 0.93 to 0.97g/cm3 or 970kg/m3. Despite only having a slightly higher density than low-density polyethylene (LDPE), HDPE has greater tensile strength. This is due to the fact that it has a low degree of branching; meaning that linear molecules pack better together and the difference in strength exceeds that of the difference in density.
Introduction of PVC (Polyvinyl chloride)
It is Poly Vinyl chloride monomers are initiators such as peroxides and azo compounds, or polymers formed by free radical polymerization under the action of light and heat. The homopolymer of vinyl chloride and the copolymer of vinyl chloride are collectively called vinyl chloride resin.
PVC is a white powder with an amorphous structure. Its branching degree is small, its relative density is about 1.4, its glass transition temperature is 77-90 C, and its decomposition begins at 170 C. It has poor stability to light and heat. When it is above 100 C or exposed to sunlight for a long time, it will decompose into hydrogen chloride, which will be further decomposed by autocatalysis, causing discoloration and rapid decline in physical and mechanical properties.

- HDPE is a non-linear viscoelastic material and it has time-dependent properties. It can withstand relatively high temperatures (120 0C) for short time intervals, but it can’t withstand normal autoclaving conditions.
- Thermal conductivity of HDPE is around 0.45 – 0.52 Wm-1K-1.
- HDPE has a large value for strength-to-density ratio, and its density ranges from 0.93 g cm-3 to 0.97 g cm-3.
PVC (Polyvinyl chloride)

- RPVC (1.3–1.45 g cm-3) is denser than FPVC (1.1–1.35 g cm-3).
- RPVC (0.14–0.28 Wm-1K-1) has a wide range of the thermal conductivity and FPVC (0.14–0.17 Wm-1K-1) has a narrow range.
